OBJECTIVE

CultureTrip is a mock independent magazine combining counterculture with travel, with each issue focusing on a different city around the globe. The target audience largely consists of twenty-somethings interested in an indie lifestyle, and it was important to capture the nature of this audience in the design. So, the visual aspect of the magazine was all about keeping things neat and minimal, but with subtle twists. Layout is visually clean, but less common typographic choices and bold imagery with gritty texture set CultureTrip apart. The companion website and mobile version of the magazine show how the content could be transferred into the ever-popular digital form.

This project really opened my eyes about content and form relationships. It was interesting to see all the different ways I could relate imagery and typography to the content of the magazine’s features as well as the overall feeling and brand of the publication itself.
